Longview Receives ALR License & EALR Certification

April 20th, 2011

Longview, an Ithacare Community, has received an Assisted Living Residence (ALR) license and certification as an Enhanced Assisted Living Residence (EALR) from the New York State Department of Health, effective March 3, 2011.

The EALR certification means Longview will now be able to offer a higher level of care than ever before, allowing residents to age-in-place by providing enhanced services to individuals who have health and age-related difficulties beyond what a basic adult home or ALR can provide.

Enhanced Assisted Living services will be provided primarily in Longview's newest addition, the Garden Level. The Garden Level addition was completed in spring 2010 and functioned as an extension of Longview's existing Adult Home until the ALR license and EALR certification were received.

The Garden Level features 32 private rooms with private baths, two activity lounges, its own dining facilities, central bathing (including whirlpool tub), designated space for a rehabilitation department, and an enclosed courtyard at the heart of the building.

The Garden Level addition was built to extend Longview's mission of providing a continuum of care, meaning that residents may move within our campus as their needs increase.  Staying within the same community while having access to higher levels of care provides stability and consistency for residents, keeping them in a familiar environment and ensuring that spouses need not be separated.
